Summer in Italy

my belated birthday party: a chocolate birthday cake with strawberries and whipped cream. a treasure hunt, set up by the four kids, written with rhyming clues (go to the place where you will sleep, or perhaps count some sheep, all in a heap). a pasta made with cream and pancetta. caprese salad (tomatoes, mozzarella, sweet basil, olive oil.

I received homemade masks, drawings and a wish to throw in the river.

Afterwards, a gorgeous walk on the river.

Had a cappuccino at the piazza bar--the french gentleman who runs the place is very patient with my broken italian, as is the woman who runs the little store with the salami and bread that we like.

Today we ate beautiful croissant-type pastries stuffed with warm chocolate and whipped cream. They were incredible. The kids and I spend the hour between 11:30 and 12:30pm searching for "bars" with the best pastries.
